Canes, Gators offer Maryland DE

When talking about big-time prospects on the east coast, the name Derrick Harvey had better be on your list. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder just received offers from two of the Big Three in Florida.
"Derrick was just offered by Miami and Florida," said Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt head coach Rick Houchens. "Marshall also offered him yesterday so he has 15 offers. The others are Tennessee, Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, North Carolina, Clemson, UConn, Boston College, Temple and Pitt."

Houchens raves about his star player.
"Derrick is an excellent pass rusher and run stopper," Houchens said. "He is also a great athlete who has good hands at tight end on offense. He'll play both positions for us this season. He ran a 4.71-second 40-yard dash at NIKE and had a 32-inch vertical. He also benched 185 pounds 17 times.
"Derrick is compared quite a bit to former Roosevelt star Derrick Burgess who played at Ole Miss and is with the Philadelphia Eagles. His upside is amazing."
Offers continue to come in for Harvey on a daily basis and he has yet to narrow down his favorites. However, Miami and Florida along with Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse and Boston College are all of great interest.
