Canes first to offer 2017 NY QB Coan

Jack Coan could be the next big time quarterback from the Northeast. The Sayville, N.Y. star picked up his first two offers last week.
"The coach from Miami and the coach from Stony Brook came down to watch me throw," said the 6-foot-3, 186-pound Coan. "They couldn't really talk to me because of the rules but after that I was just kind of hanging out with my receivers and my coach came over and told me that I had just received two offers.

"I've spoken with the Stony Brook coach before but not the Miami coach," he said. "All I know is that Miami is a very storied program. I watched the 30 for 30 on 'The U' but that's pretty much all I know about it. I just know some of the history of the program. I've watched a couple of their games recently but I don't know much about the current state of their program. I have not been down to that area."
Those are hardly the only schools with Coan on their radar.
"The school showing the strongest interest besides those two is Rutgers," Coan said. "That's the only real visit I've done so far. The coaches are really nice and I really liked it. I saw practice and a meeting. I like the way it was run. The practice was intense and it seemed like an NFL practice."
Boston College, Maryland, Virginia and Old Dominion have shown interest in Coan as well.
