Canes courting Pitt commit

Rashad Duncan has plenty to be excited about. The Belle Galdes (Fla.) Glades Central High defensive tackle has put together a strong senior season, racking up 31 solo tackles and helping his team to a 6-1 record and a spot in the playoffs. He committed to Pittsburgh in late August, but now may have another opportunity to be excited about.
“I committed to Pitt, and I still like them and am strong there, but Miami is starting to push pretty hard,” Duncan said. “I’ve been talking to their recruiting coordinator, and they want me to come to their game on Saturday. I don’t have an offer from there yet, but they’re talking to me a lot and say they really like me and are planning to come and watch me down here.”

Duncan said the two schools were his favorites throughout the process, and that choosing between the pair would create a new dilemma.
“I always said that Miami and Pittsburgh were my No.1 and No.2,” he said. “Originally Miami was No.1 and Pitt was No.2, but Pitt put an offer out first. I think if I have to make a decision between the two I’ll have to decide based on which one I can see myself playing for, like where I’d be on the depth chart, and also the geography. Both schools have the major I like and everything, so that’s not a factor. Either way, it’s nice to know that I’ll be going somewhere good that I like.”
After missing two games with a severely sprained ankle, Duncan is excited to get back on the field on Friday.
“When I injured my ankle I thought something broke and I might lose my scholarships,” Duncan said. “That was the first thing I thought when it happened. But it was only a really bad sprain, and I had to go through therapy but it’s much better now. We’re playing our biggest rival (Pahokee) on Friday and I want to add to my tackles.
“I always make a lot of noise when I rush through the line, and I’m always moving my feet. You have to be aggressive on the inside. I’m trying to build up speed in case they need me to play end.”
