Canes, Bucks among DTs favorites

Pompano Beach’s Ely High School has always been home to some of Florida’s top prospects, and this year finds another gem in defensive lineman Brandon Daniel.
Daniel (6-4, 250, 4.75) has received more than a dozen scholarship offers – so many that he often struggles to remember them all.

“I don’t want to leave anyone out, but it’s hard,” he said. “I guess it’s a good problem, though.”
Sure enough.
With a list of scholarship offers that includes Miami, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, LSU, Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Toledo, Ely’s going to have plenty of attractive options.
“I don’t have a No. 1 favorite right now,” he said. “But Miami, Florida, Ohio State, Maryland and Michigan State are all in there. I’m just looking for the best opportunity I can find.”
And what would that entail?
“A chance to play a lot early and a school that’s going to be in contention for a championship,” he said. “Those are my main two things I’m looking for. I'm going to have to do some more research, check out some depth charts and that sort of thing, to find out what my best options are. It doesn’t matter if it’s here in Florida or somewhere out of state, as long as it’s the right fit.”
Daniel attended Rutgers’ camp earlier this summer. He hopes to visit LSU this weekend.
As a junior, he recorded 50 tackles and 12 sacks. He maintains a 2.8 GPA and is awaiting his test scores.
