Canes reach into NYC for defensive lineman Jason Blissett

Defensive lineman Jason Blissett announced his commitment to Miami Friday before Brooklyn (N.Y.) Poly Prep’s game. Blissett participated in the Hurricanes’ Paradise Camp at the end of July and earned the scholarship offer shortly after the camp ended. Since then, Miami had been seen as the favorite to land Blissett’s commitment even though schools like Minnesota, Tennessee, and Wake Forest continue to push for him.

RIVALS’ REACTION…

Blissett has the look of a prospect that will grow into a defensive tackle. His frame could easily hold another 20-pounds and he could maintain his quickness and flexibility. The Canes are loading up on defensive linemen and Blissett has as high a ceiling as any of them. His energy on the field is obvious and he raises the play of his teammates.

Blissett’s recruitment isn’t totally over just yet. He took an official visit to Minnesota back in June and the Gophers are still all over him. Wake Forest is in line for an official visit but a date hasn’t been finalized just yet. Tennessee offered Blissett today and there is a chance for things to get more serious between Blissett and the Volunteers.
