Can Arkansas State beat out SEC schools for DE Corbet Mims?
THE LATEST
It's been an eventful spring for Class of 2020 Memphis (Tenn.) Kirby defensive end Corbet Mims. Not only did he win the defensive line MVP at the New Orleans stop of the Rivals Camp series presented by adidas, but he's seen his offer list explode with SEC schools like Ole Miss, Missouri and Tennessee joining the mix in the past month. But Mims is a loyal guy and several Group of Five schools have established a relationship with Mims, most notably, Arkansas State. Rivals.com caught up with Mims to talk about his recruitment and to discuss if the Red Wolves can stay in the mix going forward.
IN HIS WORDS
"Recruiting is going well. I just got an offer from University of Tennessee. I'm going to the Ole Miss camp on May 31 and I scheduled an unofficial visit to Tennessee on June 14."
On relationships with coaches: "Arkansas State has been doing a great job of keeping in touch with me. I talk a lot with their defensive ends coach, Coach Joiner. I went to Arkansas State in March and I really enjoyed it. It was a good visit. It's not too far from home. I'm going to be going back down there again soon. I don’t care if they are a smaller conference."
On the offer from in-state school Tennessee: "That's one I wanted but I feel blessed to get all these offers."
