Campbell eyes visit, decision

It is getting close to decision time for Jalen Campbell.
The three-star cornerback from Corpus Christi (Texas) Flour Bluff has narrowed his choices to TCU and Oregon, and he plans to narrow his list further in the very near future.

During the 2014 season he has only been able to take one visit. It was an unofficial visit, but it certainly left a strong impression on the standout defender.
"Whenever TCU upset Oklahoma I went to that game," Campbell said." It was nice. It was a beautiful place, a beautiful campus. My mom loved it. It was the first time my dad could get up there. I've been to TCU before, but it was the first time for my dad to get to see it. It was good for my whole family and the game was amazing since they upset Oklahoma. All the coaches were great. I loved the players. I went to the locker room afterwards and I really like the atmosphere. It felt good."
Campbell hoped to make an official visit to TCU, but his busy schedule did not present a good opportunity. On October 31, Campbell plans to take his second visit of the year. The visit will be of the official variety, and it will be to Eugene to check out the Oregon Ducks.
Following the visit, Campbell believes he will be ready to make his announcement.
"After that I'll probably make a decision about what I'm going to do," Campbell said. "Probably the following week after that."
As he prepares for his trip to Oregon he continues to go back and forth between the two college programs. There have been points in the past he has considered making a commitment to both programs, and the two continue to fight for supremacy in his mind.
"Really before football season Oregon was ahead. In my head I was like I think I'm going to commit to Oregon," Campbell said. "Then I don't know what it was I was talking with my dad and he was like maybe you should wait a little bit. Then after awhile I was like I'm going to TCU. I have to go to TCU. Then when I announced I was postponing it and was just going to wait I kind of went to the middle.
"I really like TCU just because I went there and I got to see the whole thing and the game. But I'm really excited to go see Oregon and see how it is during a football game. I'm pretty sure I'll know after I visit and see all that and how I like and know where I want to go."
Campbell has maintained regular contact with coaches from both programs.
Campbell is currently ranked No. 46 among the nation's 2015 cornerbacks, and No. 64 in the Rivals.com Texas Preseason Top 100.
