Junior to Watch: Jeremy Campbell
School: Lake Highlands, Texas
Position: Outside Linebacker
Size and Speed: Campbell is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. He has been clocked at 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Statistics: Campbell recorded 76 tackles as a junior.
Honors: Campbell earned first-team all-district and first-team all-city honors for his performance during the 2002 season.
Favorite Schools: Campbell has scholarship offers from Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Michigan State, Maryland and Baylor. He is also receiving a lot of attention from Arkansas.
Skinny: Jeremy Campbell’s teammate Franklin Okam may have said it with four words.
“Jeremy is real good,” Okam said.
But the scholarship offers piling up for Campbell confirm Okam’s words.
“I picked up two more offers over the weekend,” Campbell said. “Baylor and Michigan State came Saturday. And Arkansas told my dad the offer was coming from them. When it gets here, that will make eight offers.”
The offers on the table would be tempting to accept, but Campbell continues to take it all in.
“I’m listening to the information the schools have for me. I’m not looking to make an early decision or anything.”
Does Campbell have a favorite at this point?
“I would say probably Texas sticks out a little bit,” he said. “The fact that I’ve been there and got to visit with the coaches and meet the players. I went for the spring game on an unofficial visit, so I’m familiar with them.”
Two summer camps have already made their way onto Campbell’s calendar.
“I am going to go to Texas and Texas A&M’s camps. Those are the only ones I have firmed up.”
