Cambridge RL has two more in 2008

Cambridge (Mass.) Cambridge Rindge and Latin School has two more players to keep an eye on in the 2008 recruiting class. Both are flying under the radar at this time, but according to head coach Paul Gonnella they could see their stock rise very soon.
The first is 6-foot-0, 200-pound linebacker Vinson Givans.

"Schools are coming through and we're still getting the word out about him," he said. "Nobody has really taken a strong interest yet though. I do think he has the potential to be a major Division I player if he gets in the weight room and takes it seriously."
Gonnella went on to discuss what makes his star linebacker stand out.
"He's got a lot of upside just like Jarard (Warren)," he said. "He's also a basketball player here for us and I think is just starting to realize he needs to get in the weight room some more. He can run, leap and is an athletic kid. He's still growing too. I think he could easily put on 30-pounds easily."
Meanwhile, speedy wide receiver Jesse Sparks is an even more unknown. Gonnella is just starting to get the word out about his 5-foot-9, 170-pounder.
"Jesse led the state in touchdowns catches last year with 11," he said. "He's a track kid that has gone over to football. He was the third fastest 300 meter in the state and won the greater Boston League in the 100 meter as a sophomore. His 40 is definitely in the low 4.4's and it's legit. He can run it when he wants to and I know a lot of teams in the country like kids like that.
"With his speed he can run away from people. Teams were actually giving him a seven to nine yard cushion just so they could keep up and he'd still run by them. We're also going to use him as a kickoff returner next year. Overall he's new to football and still grasping the system, but he takes everything very seriously."
