Calls continue for Texas DE

Lufkin, Texas defensive end McKinner Dixon continues to receive attention from schools on the phone, but one school still stands out.
“I’ve gotten several phone calls,” the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Dixon said. “Oklahoma called me yesterday. Coach (Bobby Jack) Wright had a lot of good things to say to me. He talked about their program and how they can play guys early on if they feel like that guy gives them the best chance. They have a record of doing that, so I know it isn’t words.”

Other schools high on Dixon’s list include Texas, Kansas State, LSU and Texas Tech.
“Texas is right up there. They’ve been there a long time. I have liked that program as I’ve grown up. I know a lot about them and I was up there this spring when they had their junior day. It gave me the chance to go around and see some of their facilities and talk with some people.
“I don’t know a lot about Kansas State and LSU. I want to try and learn more. Hopefully I can get a date set to visit them so I can learn a little more. I don’t have any dates set up, yet. I want to get some set, so I can know where I will be going.”
Dixon and his Lufkin teammates rolled in their first game of the season, a 46-6 victory over Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower. The nation’s No. 2 rated defensive end recorded six tackles and two quarterback sacks in the game.
