Calloway a hot target

The recruiting process is already moving at rapid speed for 2017 Rivals100 cornerback Chevin Calloway. The offers arrive daily as do the college coaches, and all to catch a glimpse of the standout sophomore.
Wednesday alone he received three offers before lunch time with Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and Tulsa all deciding it was time to join Calloway's growing scholarship list.

For many the attention could be overwhelming, but not for Calloway. He has a plan.
"As I look at the whole picture it's a humbling experience right now, but I'm not trying to make it an overwhelming," Calloway said. "I'm taking it step-by-step and looking at different schools. I'm looking at what defense they run and academics and graduation rates and stuff like that."
He has not had a chance to visit many of his options, but the one he did visit made a strong impression.
"I have checked out Baylor and so far I'm liking Baylor a lot," Calloway said. "They showed me a lot of love and the facilities are really nice, the campus is really nice, I like the environment. It's a nice place.
"I'm planning on visiting Texas, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M this summer. And maybe UCLA but I'm not sure about them.
"Those are some schools but right now Baylor is one school that is kind of standing out for me."
Calloway also likes the relationships he is currently building with a few college coaches.
"As far as the coaches, I think I've built a good relationship up with coach Gush from Baylor and coach Cooks from Oklahoma. Those are probably the only two coaches and coach Martin from UCLA and coach Mattison from Michigan I've built some good relationships with them."
He plans to take his time with the recruiting process, and he is maintaining an open mind at this point. However, he does have an idea about when he would like to narrow his choices.
"I think I'll have a top five around the beginning of junior year, but right now I'm just trying to focus on this school year and getting better before I put my focus on all the recruiting," Calloway said.
As he works to get better he is studying several top defensive backs. Patrick Peterson and Darrelle Revis are two of his favorites and he is currently taking a close look at Richard Sherman, Brent Grimes, and Joe Haden.
Calloway is currently ranked a 5.9, 4-star prospect and he is a member of the 2017 Rivals100 to Watch.
