California star likes Ducks

Oregon continues to lead the way for one of Southern California’s best all-around athletes. Aaron Gipson of Fontana (Calif.) Etiwanda favors Oregon over Wisconsin, UCLA, Kansas and Colorado.
Oregon, Wisconsin, Kansas and Colorado have offered, according to Gipson.

The big thing about Oregon is that they will allow the 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver and defensive back also have a shot to play for their basketball team.
“I play a pretty mean point guard,” Gipson said. “The schools I like the most are the ones who are looking at me to play both sports. Plus, I really like the coach who is recruiting me for Oregon. It’s the defensive back coach and he just seems down to earth.”
Gipson is slated to visit Oregon on Dec. 7. Wisconsin and Kansas, he says, will also get visits.
If he plays basketball at Oregon, he says he has already talked to the coaches there.
“They said I could redshirt my first year for football and play for the basketball team the first year. Then after that, I’d have to make sure everything was straight with football all the time.”
Gipson says the Oregon football coaches, as well as other schools, are recruiting him specifically to play cornerback.
