California QB picks up offers

Hilmar, Calif., quarterback Nathan Costa has made the summer camp tours, making stops at Iowa and Northwestern. His latest stop and great performance prompted a very good program to offer him a scholarship.
"Nathan was offered by coach (Dan) Hawkins at Boise State on Friday evening," Hilmar quarterback coach Craig Handy said. "He's pumped to be offered by now both Utah and Boise State.

"They're two of the highest ranking teams in the West, right after USC last season."
Costa, who is 6-foot and 191 pounds, threw for 2,249 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior. He also rushed for an additional 662 yards and was named his league's most valuable player for the second straight season.
"Nathan has great instincts and has a good understanding of the game," Handy said. "He knows when it is appropriate to tuck it and go or when to pass. He also has an excellent understanding of down and distance."
