Quarterback Matt Gutierrez of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle made the call late last night and he officially decided to head East to play his college ball.
"I called and committed to Michigan last night," Gutierrez said early this morning before he left for school.
"It's Michigan - the Big House, the fans and great football. I thought all along that they would be tough to beat and I was right."

Gutierrez said the decision to pick Michigan was tough because he was also very impressed with Oregon. But in the end he said he thought Michigan's academics put the Wolverines over the edge.
"You can't beat a Michigan education," Gutierrez said. "It's like the Ivy League."
