California OT has solid offers

Elliot Vallejo, a 6-foot-8, 300-pound offensive tackle from Salinas (Calif.) Palma high school, is attracting attention from major programs throughout the Pac-10. Vallejo says he already knows which schools he will visit.
“I know for sure that I’m visiting four schools,” Vallejo said. “Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Oregon – those are the ones I’m going to take a look at after my season is over.”

Vallejo says he’s not just a big guy, he’s also a well-rounded athlete. He wrestles for the school team and also throws the discus and shot. This year, he may even go out for the basketball squad.
“I’m pretty athletic for my size. In football, I get off the ball well and I’m a good pass blocker.”
Stanford is the team to beat for his services.
“What’s not to like about Stanford,” he quipped. “It has everything you want. They’re my number one now, but I’m definitely still interested in the others.”
The Cardinal has offered a scholarship, as have the Huskies and Bruins.
Vallejo carries a 3.4 GPA and scored an 1,130 on the SAT.
