California OL quick, explosive

Bakersfield (Calif.) Centennial is home to offensive guard Jacob Hickman, a budding prospect for the Class of 2005. He’s a budding prospect that is already garnering regular mail from USC, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Arizona State, UCLA and Arizona.
“I really watched USC and Notre Dame growing up,” Hickman, who is 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, said. “I’m going to camp this summer at USC, and I’m going to the Nike Training Camp out here.”

Hickman might not have some of the weight that other linemen have, but he uses that to his advantage.
“I’m quick and explosive,” he said. “I’m also very technically sound, and that helps my game quite a bit.”
Hickman earned first-team all-state underclassmen honors as a junior, along with all-area and two-time all-league recognition. He hopes to get a shot to continue those honors at a major Division I school, and when it comes time to make a pick a few things will stand out.
“I want to look hard at a program’s prestige,” he said. “Also the location will be important.”
