California LB one to keep eye on

Few players in California will have as impressive of a resume as Santa Paula, Calif., linebacker Joe Camacho.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder was the 2008 co-defensive player of year in the Frontier League, a first-team all-Ventura County, a first-team All-CIF and the CIF wrestling champion at 215 pounds.

Oh yeah, he also had 151 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. So far for all of his accolades, he's yet to receive his first scholarship offer.
"It's going good, though," Camacho said. "I've had a couple colleges come down to our school to look at me. New Mexico State, San Diego State and USC have come by. I didn't get to talk to USC, but they invited me to their Rising Stars Camp. I don't have any offers right now. Some of them have talked about it.
"I've been getting a lot of letters from schools, but I don't know. I get phone calls from some schools when they can. They've all been pretty cool, but I don't know which schools they were with. I'd like to hear from the Pac 10 schools more."
After receiving the invitation to the Rising Star Camp, Camacho said he plans on being there at the Trojans camp.
"I'm definitely looking forward to that," he said. "I want to compete with some of the top athletes."
When it comes to picking the perfect school, Camacho has a few things in mind.
"I want to major in sports medicine," he said. "So I'll probably a good school that offers that. I'd like to decide at the end of my football season."
