California DL staying in state

Mission Viejo (Calif.) defensive lineman Ross Williams decided to end the recruiting process and made a commitment to San Diego State. Staying close to home was a big factor in Williams' decision.
Williams, 6-3, 210 pounds was one of the top defensive ends at the SoCal NIKE Camp and is coming off a very good junior season. He was a 1st team all-league pick after totaling 10 sacks last year.

"He's a freak, he really is," Diablo coach Bob Johnson said. "He's so good and can do a lot of things. He's tough, very physical and has great quickness off the ball.
"His older brother Ryan played for us and is now at Ohio State and Ross is even better. He just doesn't have the same size as Ryan so he wasn't recruited at that same level but he's a tremendous football player.
"Colorado was his first offer and he was going to visit them in the summer. He had a lot of other offers, I don't even remember them all, Boise State is one but he wanted to stay close to home and really liked it at San Diego State.
"I think that's a good fit for him. He likes the coaches there and it's a beautiful campus. He'll have a chance to play early there and so I'm very happy for him."
