Calif. linebacker names a clear favorite

Mission Viejo, Calif. linebacker Chris Cole was named first-team all-league, first-team all-county and first-team all-CIF.
Cole has played on the defensive line over the last two years for Mission Viejo High School. However, most schools are recruiting him to play linebacker at the next level.

Although he has no offers yet, he has one team as the clear favorite.
“USC is my favorite," the 6-foot-0, 220 pound Cole said. "They’ve been my favorite growing up. My cousin, Malaefou McKenzie went to USC. He’s still there.”
Hawaii, USC, Oregon, San Diego State and Washington are the five schools he would like to visit.
However, he still has interest in Fresno State, Southern Utah, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Texas A&M.
“Southern Utah, Utah and Hawaii," he said called him in May. "I think it was the head coach from Hawaii. The coach from Southern Utah said they are really interested and that I would be a great part of their program.”
Chris did not participate in any other sports at Mission Viejo during his junior year, although he did play rugby on a club team.
“Yeah, I’ve just been in the weight room pretty much" he said about what he has been doing in his free time. "I was going to do wrestling, but after all the football games it was too late. Next year I think I’m going to wrestle and do track.”
He has a 40-yard dash time of 4.7 seconds. His maximum bench is 300 pounds and he has benched 185 pounds 25 times without resting. His maximum squat is 485 pounds.
His core grade point average is 2.3 at the present time.
