Cali WR lands 1st two offers

Easily one of the most under-recruited players in the West region this year is Orange Lutheran (Calif.) wide out Austin Pettis. We've seen the Lancers three times this season and Pettis is easily one of the best receiver prospects in the state and things are finally starting to pick up on the recruiting front.
Pettis, 6-2, 175 pounds is a dynamic athlete with a very nice combination of size, speed and athleticism. He catches everything with his hands, runs well after the catch and has excellent leaping ability.

The problem for Pettis is he missed his entire junior season due to injury so schools were a little late to get on him. He's definitely making up for lost time this season and putting up very solid numbers. In nine games, the athlete has caught 51 balls for 774 yards and eight touchdowns.
"Things are picking up and I received my first two scholarship offers this week," Pettis said. "Boise State offered me earlier in the week and then Utah State just offered me this morning. I'm also hearing from a few other schools like San Diego State, TCU and Colorado State.
"I'm open to everyone but I do like Boise State a lot. I'm in the process of setting up my visits but I play basketball so it's going to be tough for me to take all five. I'm hoping we're going to make a long run in the playoffs so that will mean I can't take any visits those first two weekends in December because we'll still be playing.
"So more than likely, I'm going to set my visits for January. I want to take as many visits as I can but at the same time, if on one of my visits, I can just tell that the school is the one for me, I'll go ahead and commit. I don't want to drag it out too long but I also want to make a well informed decision so it will be tough and I'm just going to play it by ear."
