Cali sleeper DB looking for love

It may seem strange, but when it comes to recruiting, it matters more what you do as a junior than as a senior. That’s why it’s been tough sledding on the recruiting front for Rolling Hills (Calif.) Peninsula athlete Erik Pedersen after he missed his entire junior season due to a knee injury.
Pedersen, 6-0, 190 pounds is one of the top safety prospects we’ve seen this year. He’s a vicious hitter with good size and speed. We just watched his senior highlites last week and feel he’s a high Div I prospect. We also had a chance to see him in live action last Friday when Peninsula took on Redondo Union and he had a very good game rushing for 152 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries to go along with several bone jarring tackles.

You just don’t see many safeties come up and hit as aggressively and throw their body around like Pedersen does. On a couple of kickoffs, Pedersen absolutely crushed the opposing Seahawk players where we actually felt he might knock someone out cold.
Unfortunately for the athlete, his stellar performance on the field hasn’t resulted in schools knocking his door down to recruit him right now.
“No one has called yet,I’m still just getting some letters,” Pedersen said. “UCLA and Washington have written me and said they’re watching me but that’s been about it. I just send out my DVD to every school I could think of last week so hopefully that will help things out. I’m just staying positive and trying to play hard on the field. Hopefully everything else will take care of itself.”
