Cali RB has Big 12 leader

East Bakersfield (Calif.) is usually good for at least one solid Div I recruit every year and next year's top player will be running back Andre Smith. Smith has two offers on the table and has five schools at the top of his board.
Smith, 5-10, 185 pounds had a very impressive junior season rushing for for 1,250 yards and 25 touchdowns and also caught passes for another 400 yards and returned four kickoffs for scores. The athlete earned 1st team all-league and second team all-state underclass honors for his efforts.

Smith shows well on film and combines a patient running style with the ability to explode through the line. He has excellent vision, good top end speed and finishes his runs. He's not super shifty but does have the ability to make that first guy miss and does a nice job of running down hill.
On the recruiting front, Smith should be a major recruit next year.
"I'm getting letters right now from just about everyone," Smith said. "Colorado State and Oregon have offered scholarships and I'm also hearing from the whole Pac 10, Big 10 and schools like Notre Dame and Nebraska to name a few. I'm also getting looks in track and have a personal best of 10.6 in the 100m.
"Nebraska is my top school right now, I've always followed Nebraska and liked them since I was a kid. I also like Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon and Arizona State, that's my top five right now.
"The main things I'm looking for in a school is being able to play early and also the head coach. This summer I plan to camp at Michigan and Colorado State and will also attend the NIKE Camp at USC in April."
