Cali RB gets Big 12 offer

Byron Ellis (6-1, 195, 4.55) from Venice, Calif., is seeing his stock move in an upward direction of late. Eillis received another offer this time from a Big 12 power. Ellis was selected first-team all-league and second-team all-city as a junior after rushing for 1,329 yards and 12 touchdowns.
After receiving an early offer from Wyoming, Rocky Mountain neighbor Colorado has now offered Ellis a scholarship.

Ellis is also very interested in Arizona. Ellis took an unofficial visit to Arizona and he liked the Tucson campus a lot.
Stanford, UCLA, Cal, USC, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Nebraska, Fresno State and others are in the recruiting fray.
Ellis, a great student, is also hearing from the Service Academies and Ivy League schools.
Ellis possesses great vision and has outstanding quickness. When Venice runs the football (Venice is predominately passing team), more than likely it is Lewis carrying the load. Ellis has deceptive speed and known as “football fast”.
Ellis improved on his football skills by attending the Beyond 2000 Elite Camp this past June where he displayed outstanding pass catching skills to go with his running ability.
“Byron is a young man who is destined for success,” Venice head coach Angelo Gasca said. “He is a special person with special qualities.”
“Byron has an unbelievable work ethic, and commitment to doing well in everything that he’s part of,” Gasca said. “He is respected by his teammates and his coaches, who are well aware of his exploits on and off the field.”
