Cali QB ready to take off

The Golden State of California is always a good place to come for quarterbacks. One signal-caller flying somewhat under the radar is Graham Wilbert (6-5, 215, 4.9) from Valencia, Calif., but after some strong showings at recent passing leagues that could change rapidly.
Wilbert threw for 1,907 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions as a junior. He probably should have made all-league, but seniors received the nod.

On the recruiting trail he is being recruited by the whole Pac 10 and attended UCLA's junior day back in February. Outside of the Pac 10 Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska and LSU are showing interest in the tall field general from Valencia.
Wilbert has been busy this summer on the passing league circuit. He led his Valencia team to the semi-final game before falling to Long Beach (Calif.) Poly in the prestigious Saugus under the Lights Passing League tournament.
This past weekend Wilbert led his team to the Bonita Passing League Championship with a victory over Valencia's archrival, Newhall (Calif.) Hart.
Besides passing league tournaments, Wilbert has also been going on the camp circuit.
"I went to Colorado's camp and Nevada's camp two weeks ago," Wilbert said. "They were really awesome. I was able to meet coaches from both schools.
"I learned a lot from both coaching staffs. I learned certain things about footwork and where to release the ball. I learned more football knowledge on how to exploit certain defenses.
What is Wilbert looking for in a college?
"I'm looking to go to a school with a good college atmosphere," Wilbert said. "I want to go to a place where I can see myself living at for four years.
"Also I would like to find a school where I will get at least two to three years of playing time. Playing four years would be awesome and I want to help my college choice win games.
Wilbert will be a two-year starter when his senior season rolls around. He has outstanding leadership qualities and sets an excellent example for younger players. He works hard on and off the field.
Wilbert has a strong arm and a good ability to read defenses and find the open man.
