Cali OL impressive in big win last weekend

We had a correspondent at the Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure- Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon game this past weekend and one player our scout raved about was Seraph offensive lineman Vaughn Dotsy. The lineman also appears close to setting up his first official visit.
Dotsy, 6-4, 350 pounds is a mammoth lineman who projects as a guard at the next level. He's a two time all-state underclass selection and has been one of the top lineman in the region since his sophomore season.

Canyon finished last season winning the Div I state title by beating previous unbeaten Concord (Calif.) De La Salle and is one of the state's top teams once again this year. St. Bonny rolled to a 28-17 win doing it largely on the ground as Darrell Scott rushed for 289 yards and four touchdowns, many of his runs coming right behind Dotsy.
At his size, you wouldn't expect Dotsy to be as quick off the ball and be able to move as well as he does. The big lineman steamrolled opposing linemen all game long and is easily among the most physical players in the state. Dotsy is naturally strong and with his wide base, he's impossible to get around at the high school level. He's a tremendous straight ahead blocker but is also able to pull and has excellent balance.
Dotsy has already lost abut 20 pounds since we last saw him at a NIKE Camp and we can see him losing even more weight once he hits college and gets involved in a serious college level weight program. For now, we like his upside more than when we saw him in the summer and feel he has a chance to be a very solid college level player.
On the recruiting front, Dotsy hasn't set up any of his official visits yet but is close to setting up his first.
"I'm close to finalizing a visit with Nebraska," Dotsy said. "We're just trying to figure out a date that works for both of us but that should get done pretty soon here. I haven't really talked about it with anyone else right now. I still have a lot of the same offers, Florida, Michigan, LSU, UNLV, Mississippi, Arizona, Arizona State and a few others.
"I'm also talking with UCLA and Notre Dame and I would love an offer from both of them. I went and saw UCLA play a couple of weeks ago and was impressed. I've always liked both programs a lot and an offer from them would put them pretty high on my list. Right now, I'm just enjoying the recruiting process and interested to see where it goes in the end."
