Cali LB talks about decision

Fresno (Calif.) Hoover linebacker Mychal Kendricks has been tough to reach over the past week since news broke that the talented athlete committed to Cal. We were able to track down Kendricks who did acknowledge the commitment but was still relunctant to talk much about it.
Kendricks, 6-0, 210 pounds is one of the state's top 'backers who blew up at the NorCal NIKE Camp. He earned LB MVP honors and offers soon flooded in.

Cal has been a front runner for some time and Kendricks recently decided to give the Bears a commitment.
"Yes I did commit to Cal," Kendricks said. "The main factors were the school is close to home and I like the coaches a lot. I especially like Coach Tedford. He's a good coach and a good guy. He's the kind of coach I see myself enjoying playing for.
"I haven't set up my visit to Cal yet but it will likely be at the end of the year. Right now, I just want to focus on my senior season of football and not really worry or talk much about recruiting. I've been getting so many calls that I'm probably just going to change my number.
"This is just kind of a personal thing for me. When I committed, I just wanted to keep it to myself and didn't feel like talking about it. I know people are interested but I just never really felt like discussing it.
"I'm a solid commitment though and as of right now, I don't plan on taking any more visits. I'm excited to be a Bear. I can definitely say that. Cal is a great school and I'm very excited about going there next year."
