Cali LB planning summere decision

Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham linebacker Donovan Carter picked up his third offer over the weekend and said he plans to make his college choice sometime in the summer.
Carter, 6-2, 215 pounds is one of the top ‘backers in the West region this year. We’ve said it numerous times but he reminds us of current UCLA linebacker Reggie Carter at the same stage but with a bigger frame and the ability to play any of the ‘backer spots in college.

San Diego State was the first to offer and UCLA followed up shortly after. Carter said he actually gave serious thought to jumping on the offer at the time.
“I like UCLA a lot and really thought about committing,” Carter said. “It’s a huge decision though and I just want to be sure and still do. There were a lot of schools that were going to come by in the Spring and I wanted to keep things open and see how things played out.
“Arizona is my latest offer, they offered last week and I’m very interested. I would like to take an unofficial visit to Arizona and to Oregon and by the end of the summer, I’ll be ready to make my commitment.
“I’ve talked things over with my family and we all agreed that it’s best to get the decision out of the way before school starts. That way I can just focus on finishing up my senior year strong and just really enjoying my last year of high school.
“Oregon hasn’t offered me yet but they’re recruiting me pretty hard. It would be great if they did offer so I could have offers from the three schools I really like a lot- UCLA, Arizona and Oregon.
“Right now, our team is doing passing league and we’re looking pretty good. When we have some time off in the summer, that’s when I’ll try and take some visits. After seeing all the schools, I should have more than enough information to make my decision.”
