Cali LB has first two offers

A linebacker starting to make plenty of noise is Bakersfield (Calif.) Ridgeview prospect Derrick Kernene. Former UCLA DL Rodney Leisle was the last major recruit out of Ridgeview but Kernene is making a lot of noise right now.
Kernene, 6-0, 200 pounds had a big junior season totaling 127 tackles and five sacks to earn 1st team all-league and all-area honors. Wolf Pack coach Mike Crews had some pretty high praise for his standout 'backer.

"He's the best linebacker I've seen in the last five years," Crews said. "He's a very good player and a definite Div I prospect. A lot of schools are on him right now."
Among those schools include most of the Pac 10 plus Colorado, San Diego State, Colorado State and the Ivy league.
"Arizona and Washington State have both offered," Kernene said. "I'm interested in both along with Oregon, Colorado, Cal, Ohio State and Texas, those are the main schools I'm interested in.
"I'm not hearing from Texas right now but growing up, that was my favorite school. Right now, I'm looking for a school where I'll be comfortable living with a nice atmosphere as well as a strong football program. I'm training hard right now as well getting ready for the upcoming camps. I'm going to the NIKE Camp in April and also will camp at USC."
