Cali K looking at options

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite kicker Kevin Goessling is one of a handful of potential Div I prospects for the Friars this year. Goessling has one offer on the table right now and is hearing from a host of other schools as well.
It's never easy for a kicker to earn a Div I scholarship but thanks the recent emergence of the Chris Sailer kicking competitions, more and more kickers are getting that opportunity. Goessling, 5-11, 170 pounds is one such player and drew raves from Sailer last summer.

"Kevin a great left footed kicker," Sailer said. "He has a strong leg and gets great lift on the ball."
Goessling finished the year 7-9 on field goals with a long of 41 yards and was 29-30 on PATs. Boise State offered a scholarship earlier in the year and he's hearing from several others as well.
"I was really excited to get that Boise State offer," Goessling said. "A lot of guys on our team like Chris Galippo and D.J. Shoemate got a ton of offers early on and I know it's always a struggle for kickers. Chris (Sailer) even told me as much so once I got that first one under my belt, it was a big relief for me.
"Boise State is a great school, a top 10 program and I'm very interested in them. I'm also hearing from Cal, Oregon, Louisville and Notre Dame. I thought about committing to Boise State right when they offered but I decided I wanted to keep my options and try and have multiple schools to compare to each other. I'm going to take my trips in January and then make my decision later that month."
