Cali DT gets offer

Finding defensive tackles seems to be an ongoing goal every recruiting season. Many times coaches have to project a player at the position. One player that is beginning to be talked about on the recruiting junket is Jonathan Soto (6-4, 260, 4.9) from La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat.
“He’s a guy,” Bishop Amat coach Michael Di Fiori said. “Everybody is showing interest in him.”

“I know Kansas has offered him,” Di Fiori said. “He is receiving mail from everyone including LSU.”
Soto was an all-league selection for one of the toughest conferences in southern California after racking 58 tackles and recording six sacks.
Another thing to like about Soto is his versatility. He has the talent level to play on the offensive trench on the collegiate level if a team needs him to switch sides of the ball. He does project as a defensive tackle, however.
Not only is he an outstanding football player but he’s doing the job in the classroom as well with his 3.5 GPA. He also benches 320-pounds.
According to Di Fiori, besides his offer from Kansas, Cal and Stanford have shown him a lot of interest in Soto as well as the whole Pac-10.
The scouting report on Soto is he has great size, speed and quickness. He could still grow some.
Keep an eye on Soto as he’s one who is beginning to see his stock heat up.
