Cali ATH ready for breakout season

One player that everyone should keep an eye on early next season is Oxnard (Calif.) Rio Mesa athlete Josh Harrison. We recently had a chance to see Harrison during summer passing league action and he was very impressive on both sides of the ball.
Harrison, 5-9, 170 pounds is a player who is not only a college level football player but one of the state's top long jumpers as well. Harrison has a personal best of 24' in the long jump and finished third in the state this past season.

"I want to do both sports in college but football is definitely my first love," Harrison said. "All the coaches I've talked with all said I could do both in college so that's what I'm hoping to do."
Harrison earned all-league honors as a cornerback a year ago but prefers wide receiver and said that's where he's primarily being recruited at right now.
"Some schools are saying athlete right now but just about every school wants me at receiver. That's where I want to play too. I worked really hard in the summer at receiver and got some great coaching and I can't wait for the season to get here."
As mentioned earlier, Harrison looked very good during passing league play. The athlete videotaped one of his tournaments and made it in to a highlight tape which resulted in his most recent scholarship offer.
"I brought a copy of it to Boise State and they offered me while I was there visiting my brother," Harrison said. "I just mailed out a bunch of copies to a lot of other schools including several in the Pac 10 so I'm interested to see what comes of it. Boise State is the only school who has seen it so far since I hand delivered and I got an offer out of it so that's pretty cool."
Nevada was the first school to offer Harrison and Idaho and Idaho State have each offered as well.
"Arizona sounds like they're close to offering and I'm also hearing from Oregon, Washington and Washington State. Those four along with Boise State are my top five right now. I definitely want to take all five of my trips before I make my decision. My plan is to wait until the football season is over and then take all the trips in December and January, that way I don't have any distraction during the season."
