Cali all-state OL has local leader

In their glory years back in the early 90s, Anaheim (Calif.) Esperanza was known as one of the most physical teams in the state and produced a ton of top tier Div I linemen. It's been a few years but offensive lineman Joe Hawley should follow in line as the dominant lineman for the Aztecs.
Hawley, 6-3, 270 pounds was one of just two juniors on the Orange County 1st team last season and the lineman also earned 1st team all-state underclass honors. Hawley is very strong, Esperanza is known for their strength and conditioning program, and has the athleticism to get up the field and make a secondary block on a linebacker or safety.

"I can still get a lot faster and quicker," Hawley said. "My goal is always to dominate so I'm working hard to improve myself in all areas."
Recruiting attention has been surprisingly slow right now as Hawley is still waiting for his first scholarship offer to roll in.
"I'm just getting a lot of letters right now," Hawley said. "The schools I'm looking at are USC, Cal, Wisconsin and UCLA but I really like USC a lot. I grew up watching USC football and they were my childhood favorite growing up. I would like to stay close to home so my family can watch me play but I'm still open to going anywhere."
Hawley will attend the Nike camp at USC but isn't sure about the rest of his summer camp plans. Academically he's carrying a 3.0 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year. He wants to major in Electrical Engineering.
