Calhoun tops Rivals.coms Texas top 100

The first release of the Rivals.com Texas top 100 for the class of 2008 features almost 40 players who have already committed to schools.
The Oklahoma Sooners have certainly had early recruiting success in the Lone Star State. Three of the top four prospects in Texas have committed to the Sooners. The state's top prospect, running back Jermie Calhoun, defensive end R.J. Washington and offensive tackle Stephen Good are headed to OU.
The Sooners have also added three other top-25 prospects in Texas. safety Joseph Ibiloye, athlete Justin Johnson, and center Ben Habern have told Bob Stoops they'll play for him.
Texas' 2007 class was at the top of the Big 12, and the Longhorns have certainly added several major in-state prospects in the 2008 class. Nine of UT's commits check in among the state's top 30 prospects. D.J. Monroe (No. 5), DeSean Hales (No. 9), and Aaron Williams (No. 10) lead the way. The Longhorns feature 18 pledges from the state's top 100.
Texas A&M checks in with 12 commitments listed in the state's top 100. Athlete Derrick Hall (No. 16) headlines the Aggies class. Fellow four-stars Tommy Dorman (No. 26) and Rod Davis (No. 28) are also among the state's top 30 prospects.
Texas Tech is led in-state by early quarterback commit Seth Doege, who checks in as the state's No. 39-rated prospect. Doege had a solid spring after missing his junior season because of a knee injury. Defensive end Ryan Haliburton, another Red Raider pledge, comes in at No. 86.
In-state schools Baylor (Jacquies Smith) and TCU (Jeremy Coleman) have commits listed in first the Texas top 100 for this cycle.
Oklahoma State is well-represented. The Cowboys have four commitments - quarterback Kody Spano, offensive guard Patrick Hoog, athlete Jackie Hinton and linebacker Alfred Dupree - on the list.
Colorado, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, UCLA, and Wisconsin have at least one prospect listed in the top 100. The Buckeyes picked up the state's No. 13 overall prospect in Rivals100 offensive tackle J.B. Shugarts. UCLA running back commit Aundre Dean comes in at No. 22 in the state.
LSU, which had four top-25 prospects in Texas last year, has two commitments - athlete Kellen Theriot and offensive tackle Thomas Parsons - on the early 2008 list.
