Calhoun set to camp at Rutgers

Rutgers commands a lot of respect from in-state recruits these days and the Scarlet Knights are set to host a lot of their top prospects from the Class of 2011 early this week.
One of those uncommitted targets is three-star defensive end Shilique Calhoun, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect from Middletown (N.J.) North.

Calhoun holds offers from Rutgers, BC, Cincinnati, Louisville, Pitt, Rutgers and Syracuse, and he is also being evaluated by a lot of other schools that could offer down the road.
"I'm supposed to be attending the Rutgers camp on Tuesday," Calhoun reported over the weekend. "I think I'm going for that."
It will be the first recruiting event of the summer for Calhoun. His school did not release for summer break until June 23, which made it nearly impossible for him to attend some of the other camps taking place on the east coast and beyond. That's just fine with him, as he wants to have a typical high school experience in some ways.
"I've talked to the Rutgers coaches a little bit but not too much," he continued. "I'm just trying to spend my summer as a high school student. I'm not trying to get crazy with the recruiting stuff or too involved with it."
After the camp at Rutgers, Calhoun said he might just play things by ear and attend camps or go on unofficial visits as they come up. He will consult his high school coach about his plans and go from there.
Calhoun is ranked the No. 16 prospect in New Jersey's Class of 2011 by Rivals.com.
