Calhoun plans Pac-12 trips

Derik Calhoun plans to take unofficial visits to USC and UCLA in the coming weeks, another important step in the recruiting process for the four-star linebacker from El Cerrito, Calif.
The Bruins still look very good in his recruitment - and could be considered the frontrunner at this point - but USC is still pushing and another trip there could be important in the decision-making process.

Plus, Calhoun's sister, Deanna, plays for the USC women's basketball team and that could be a serious factor when it becomes time for the four-star linebacker to make his commitment.
"I'm going to be up there this weekend or the week after," Calhoun said of USC.
"I just want to sit down and talk to the coaches a little bit more. I want to talk to them more in person.
"I talk to my sister a lot about USC. She plays basketball there and she wants me to go there really bad. I will take that into consideration. If I go there, I like the program a lot but it would mainly be because of her."
A trip to UCLA will happen in the next week or so as well for Calhoun, one of the top defensive players at the recent Rivals Camp in Los Angeles.
The Bruins have not slipped at all in his recruitment.
"Everything is going well with UCLA right now," Calhoun said. "I like them a lot."
Miami has shown more interest in the El Cerrito standout and could be close to offering him.
So far, Calhoun has landed offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Nebraska, Oregon State, San Diego State, UCLA, USC, Utah, Utah State, Washington and Washington State.
A decision time is still undecided but Calhoun thinks it could happen sometime close to the start of his senior season.
