Cal visit excites Adcock

Garrett Adcock is familiar with Cal football because his brother, Chris, plays for the Golden Bears and last weekend the Dallas (Texas) Dallas Christian offensive guard got his chance to meet with new position coach Jim Michalczik and others during a junior day.
Cal is definitely a favorite moving forward and although Adcock, a 6-foot-2, 275-pound prospect, isn't ready to commit yet he did say the Golden Bears will be tough to beat.

"The trip was real good," Adcock said. "I got to hang out with the team and my brother a lot which was really good because I haven't seen my brother in a while. I hung out with coach Michalczik pretty much the whole time I was out there. He's a really good guy and a great coach. I'm really excited where the program is going with all the new coaches and the new strength coach.
"I got to see the team work out and their whole work ethic has completely changed. They're working harder than ever and they're going in a great direction. I got to tour their new facility and that is going to be the best in the country when it's done. Overall, it was an exciting visit and real positive."
On Friday, Adcock got a chance to sit with Michalczik and watch game tape and then the Dallas Christian standout also had opportunities to talk with his brother about the program. It was all positive news moving forward which means the Golden Bears are even more attractive to the 2012 prospect.
"I went up Friday afternoon and we sat in the offensive line meeting room and we just watched film together," Adcock said. "It was good to get to know each other. It was good to find out what kind of coach he is and he's a real great addition to the Cal coaching staff. I liked meeting him now to get to know what kind of coach he is.
"It's a big advantage to have my brother there. I feel like I know what's going on behind the scenes. My brother said the new strength coach has them running hard. The team is in the best shape they've been in, their attitude has completely changed and they're fired up for the season. It's really good to know what's going on with the program from a player's perspective."
This weekend Adcock is headed to LSU and he's had good communication with the Tigers' staff. He said coach Les Miles is expected to watch his highlight tape soon. Arkansas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M and others are also showing interest but Adcock said Cal is at the top.
"Cal is very high on my list," Adcock said. "I've talked to the coaches a lot and I'm very positive about everything. I'm headed out to LSU this weekend.
"My recruiting coach at LSU has sent me hand-written letters and he told me to give him a call. I called him up and he said they liked my film and they're going to sit down with coach Miles soon. I'm real excited to go out there and see LSU, one of the great programs in the country. Right now I'm keeping my options open but Cal is definitely going to be hard to beat."
