Cal first to offer Georgia DB

Junior cornerback Trevellous Cheek of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer predicted last week California could be the first school to offer. On Monday, the Bears proved him right.
According to Cheek, Cal assistant Ashley Ambrose was the one who pulled the trigger.

"I can't remember his exact words, but he was like, 'You know, we've offered you right?'" Cheek said. "I was like, 'I had no idea.'" He said, 'You could make a verbal commit right now.'"
What was Cheek's reaction?
"It felt great," Cheek said. "I always wanted to go to California, too, so it was a feeling I've never had before. I'll always remember that first offer. We had a good talk about everything. We talked about the defense, and how their corners are. And we talked about how the QBs throw a lot more out there than in the East. We also talked about how they have a great stadium and one of the biggest weight rooms on the west coast."
According to Cheek, Ambose plans to visit his school this spring.
Cheek also is hearing from programs such as Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisville. Asked if the Bears would be a factor, he replied, "Yes, definitely."
