Cal commit is checking out Oregon

Cal picked up a commitment from one of the top running backs in the West region earlier today when Clovis East (Calif.) Tracy Slocum announced for the Bears at a school press conference. That was the good news. The bad news is Cals other running back commit, Remene Alston has decided to take a visit to Oregon this weekend and will decide between the two schools on Monday.
Alston, 5-8, 180 pounds from Greensboro (N.C.) Page committed to Cal before he even took his official visit earlier this month. He then visited the weekend of January 6 and this one looked over. Then a few days ago, we talked with one of Alston's coaches at Page who told us that the running back was going to be visiting Oregon this weekend.

"He just wants to go down there and check things out," he said. "I think he still likes Cal a lot but wants something else to compare Cal too. Remene likes Coach Campbell at Oregon a lot and he's interested in seeing what it's like out there. I don't know if Cal is too happy about it but Remene just wants to be sure he's doing the right thing."
Alston's coach went on to say that he expects the athlete to make a final decision between the two schools on Monday. We'll be checking in with Alston sometime Sunday to get his take on the visit to Eugene.
