Cagle next in line at Houston school

Two years ago, offensive tackle Ian Symonette put Houston private school St. Pius X on the recruiting map.
Symonette ended up signing with the University of Miami, which led way to Tarence Farmer signing with the University of Alabama this recruiting period.

So who's next at the 2006 Texas private school state champions?
Offensive lineman Richard Cagle (6-5, 250 pounds) is receiving interest from the likes of Oklahoma State, Missouri and Vanderbilt after a successful junior season.
"I've been invited to some junior days that I'm going to hit," Cagle said. "I really like Oklahoma State because I can get the degree I'm looking for there. I really like wildlife biology and I like that they offer that.
"I also like Vanderbilt and Missouri's offense. I'm good with offenses that run out of one-back sets and passing formations. I love to move and I feel my strength is pass-blocking and pulling."
Cagle attributes much of his individual success and his team's success to St. Pius' coaching philosophy.
"Our coaches give us instruction on our positions," he said. "They don't just want you to build strength and speed, but to master your position."
The first-team all-district and honorable-mention all-state selection plans on taking in several camps this summer and if the right opportunity presents itself he plans on committing.
"If I get an offer I'm looking for I'm going to have to jump at the opportunity," he said. "I'd like to get my decision out of the way."
For now, Cagle is focused on the off-season and making a return trip to the state championship game in 2007.
"We've got to replace some key players, but we have a lot returning from last year," he said. "We've got the experience of winning a state championship also."
With a nice string of Division I recruits in tact, Cagle is already promoting his predecessor – defensive lineman Enerico Forbes (6-5, 255-pounds).
"Ian opened the door for all of us and Forbes is the next one," he said. "I play against him on a daily basis and he's a big boy. He's going to be a stud."
