Cager looking to take visits

MORE: Class of 2015 Rivals250
At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, wide receiver Lawrence Cager of Towson (Md.) Calvert Hall is definitely a player who attracts attention. Despite missing a good portion of his junior season due to a concussion, this attention continues to come in as Cager begins to think about future visits.

Cager first shared his thoughts on his junior season and his injury.
"It didn't go as well as I expected it to be due to the concussion I received in the middle of the season, but I think I made up for it when I came back during the end of the season," said Cager, who ended up playing in six games. "I think my inability to play really hurt my team and I will make sure, as a captain, that we put 110% out on the field every down we can play."
With recruiting, Cager, who picked up offers from Oregon State and Toledo last summer, has maintained contact with several other schools.
"Recruiting is going okay," said Cager, who mentioned that he will prepare himself to play wide receiver and defensive end next season. "I'm starting to get more phone calls from coaches. I think once I start playing defense I can show the coaches how good of an athlete I am and how versatile I am."
This off-season, Cager plans to attend numerous camps to showcase his abilities. Among the schools he plans to visit are Missouri, Ohio State, Clemson, Duke, Michigan State, Oregon State and Virginia Tech.
As he waits for additional offers, Cager shared his thoughts on the two offers he already has from Oregon State and Toledo.
"I really like Oregon State a lot," said Cager. "Coach Brennan is a very good coach and is very interactive with his receivers. Oregon State is like a big family and they welcomed me with open arms, including the players, when I went down there. Toledo is a good school and coach Candle is a very good coach. He is one of the best receiver coaches in the country."
Cager took a visit to both Oregon and Oregon State last June, which is when he picked up his offer from the Beavers.
"They and Oregon were in contact with me, so I took visits out there just to see what it's like because I have never been to the west coast," said Cager. "I thought it would be good to go out there and see these schools."
Aside from taking visits this off-season, Cager will obviously also be working to improve his game.
"I want to improve my speed and try to build my hands stronger, because as a big receiver that can go get the jump ball, I need strong hands to bring it down," he said.
