BYU lands commit No. 1

BYU landed their first commitment of the new season when South Jordan (Utah) Bingham athlete Jordan Pendleton announced for the Cougars. Pendleton, 6-2, 190 pounds played both receiver and defensive back a year ago and said it's uncertain where he'll play in college.
"BYU has been showing me a lot of interest and once they offered me, I knew that's where I wanted to go," Pendleton said. "What happened was my coach found out they were going to offer so he pulled me out of class and had me call Coach Doman, who was the one that has been recruiting me. I called up coach Doman and then he put coach Mendenhall on the phone and that's when I committed.

"I'm very excited about my decision. I still don't know where they want me to play, safety or receiver but I'm just excited to be playing college football at BYU. My dad went to school there and played on the team in early 80s so I already know a lot about the place and I'm very comfortable being close to home."
Pendleton earned second team all-state honors as a defensive back last season after totaling 63 tackles and two picks from his free safety position. He said the plan is for him to play his senior year on both sides of the ball and then make a choice where he feels most comfortable playing in college. The athlete is also solid academically and is carrying a 3.7 GPA.
