BYU continues to roll

It seems BYU is landing a new commitment by the day and picked up yet another quality player earlier this week. American Fork (Utah) athlete Jake Murphy decided he would be staying close to home to play his college ball and committed to the Cougs.
Murphy, 6-4, 215 pounds has great size and could play a number of positions in college. It looks like receiver is where he'll start off.

"He has great hands and is the best receiver I have ever coached," American Fork coach Davis Knight said. "He could also play safety or even grow in to a tight end but I like him a lot at receiver and feel he's just a tremendous player."
Murphy, the son of former Atlanta Brave all-star outfielder Dale Murphy, said he had been thinking about jumping on the BYU offer for some time before doing so on Tuesday.
"BYU offered me about three months ago," Murphy said. "I also had offers from Stanford and Utah State and Stanford wanted me to play football and baseball. There were a few other schools I think were close to offering like ASU but everything just felt right at BYU.
"It's the church school and that was important to me. I like Coach Mendenhall a lot and feel BYU has shown that they can compete at a high level in football. This was far more than a football decision though. When I weighed everything- social life, comfort and where I could grow the most as a person, BYU was clearly the place for me."
As a junior, Murphy caught 29 balls for 535 yards and eight touchdowns. He said he'll go on his Mormon mission after high school but wasn't sure exactly when he would leave for it.
