Virginia Beach (Va.) Tallwood safety Christian Byrum is starting to emerge as a major prospect and his summer plans reflect that.
Byrum now has offers from Duke, NC State, Wisconsin and several others, and early this week he said those are the schools that have been in the most contact with him, along with Old Dominion.
"I don't have a summer schedule yet but I'm working on it," Byrum said. "I want to go to Temple and I'm trying to get to the University of Miami, UVa and probably UNC."
The 6-foot-1 safety is up to ten offers, largely because schools are impressed with his cover skills. His performance at the 757 Blue Chip Challenge is only likely to help his stock soar even more.
Byrum said he does not have a preference between safety and corner.
NC State and Old Dominion are the schools he has visited so far.
"I liked NC State's a whole bunch because that was my first time experiencing one of the big FBS programs. Just to finally get a view on that was pretty good," he said. "And I had been to ODU several times so none of that was really a surprise to me."
Byrum said he has mpt had too much contact with Duke lately but that is another trip he is hoping to make.
"It's probably been a week since I've talked to them and I know they're prestigious academically so I'm really interested because of that."
