Byrd will line up visits soon

Meridian (Miss.) linebacker Roshaad Byrd still has the same four schools on top and expects to set up his official visits in the next week.
"I am going to sit down with my family and find out what days work best for them," he said.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder has had Alabama, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Mississippi State in his top four for some time and still expects to choose from those schools. He took in the Rebels' home game with the Crimson Tide on Oct. 15 in Oxford, Miss.
"It was surprising, but exciting," Byrd said of Bama's last-second 13-10 victory against the Rebels.
Byrd, a quick, rangy defensive player, has been playing middle linebacker this season and has racked up more than 100 tackles. He's also played some tight end this year for the first time, but says that all of the colleges recruiting him want him as a linebacker.
"It's been going real good," he said. "I'm just a hard worker and I love to hit."
The two-star rated Byrd was rated the No. 21 overall prospect in Mississippi in the preseason.
Sparky Woods is recruiting for Alabama, Matt Luke from Ole Miss, Ellis Johnson from Mississippi State and Jay Hopson from Southern Mississippi.
Byrd and his teammates have wrapped up a playoff berth and play their final regular season game this Friday night.
