Byrd enjoys latest trip

Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek athlete Damiere Byrd has been busy putting together a big-time junior season that is sure to impress college coaches, but he's also finding some time to enjoy the early stages of the recruiting process.
Prior to this past weekend Byrd had been to Michigan, so he already had an idea of what the atmosphere was like at a big-time college football game. On Saturday he didn't have to go far from home for his second trip. This time he went to Rutgers.

"It was good," he said of his trip to see the Scarlet Knights. "I liked it up there. It was nice. In the beginning we went to the recruiting tent to eat, then after the game we went to the weight room and talked to the coaches.
"I like them (the coaches). They're cool guys. They have a lot of fun doing what they do."
Rutgers was probably glad Byrd decided to visit on that particular weekend, as they defeated Texas Southern 42-0, their fourth consecutive win.
"I'm gonna consider every school, at least until I believe I like some better than others," he continued.
"I'm definitely gonna try to go down to South Carolina and I'm thinking about trying to get up to Syracuse sometime."
Right now Timber Creek is 4-0 and Byrd is a big reason why. In their last game he rushed nine times for 185 yards and two touchdowns. He also brought a punt back 66 yards for a touchdown, and finished the game with 290 all-purpose yards.
"Every week it kind of changes. One week I'm in the backfield. The next week I'm lined up in the slot most of the game."
