Byers reaffirms pledge to NC State

Charlotte (N.C.) Vance cornerback Justin Byers was up in the air on his commitment after Chuck Amato was fired from North Carolina State. The 6-foot-0, 172-pounder briefly looked around at other schools before taking his official to Raleigh. Has Byers recommitted to the Wolfpack?
"The visit was great," he said. "The official was all it was hyped up to be. I actually got to meet coach O'Brien and his staff. They cleared everything up for me. I was iffy about some things going in, but they showed me a good time. I thought I'd be nervous around the coaches since I had never met them before, but they made me comfortable and felt like my parents away from home."

What was Byers impression of Tom O'Brien?
"He's a straight forward guy that's going to get the job done," he said. "When he talks you're going to listen because he's a man of few words. I also learned he can catch you off guard. He surprised the recruits a few times by making us introduce ourselves and our parents to the team."
On the visit, the two-star prospect was hosted by DeAndre Morgan.
"I hung out with him at night and went a couple places," he said. "It was fun. I also chilled with safety Jevon Walker. They were both really cool guys."
Byers was surprised by how much he enjoyed himself in Raleigh.
"The visit was a lot better than I thought it would be," he said. "The coaches showed me why I need to come to NC State. Coach O'Brien is going to turn the program around and they are building a championship atmosphere. I honestly want to go back right now."
The Charlotte cornerback touched on one of the other recruits there.
"I talked to Antoine Holmes the most there trying to recruit him to NC State," he stated. "He told me after the visit that North Carolina State is definitely in his top three. He talked to me a lot because his finalists are all schools I've visited before too. I told him honestly there is nothing like NC State out there."
