Butler ready to emerge

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Baytown (Texas) Lee junior safety Reggie Butler doesn't mind if you call him a sleeper. He'll tell you that he's not going to jump right off the page, but that doesn't mean he's not one of the more talented players in the state for the class of 2008.
Despite a shortened season due to a hurricane, Butler still managed two interceptions and the 6-foot, 170-pounder is looking for more this fall.

"I'm not that fast, not the biggest, and not the strongest, but I've got intelligence on the field and off," Butler said. "That's what I do. I just make plays and the rest will take care of itself."
Butler says he hasn't put a ton of thought into recruiting with things still a ways off in the future. A few letters from schools have come here and there, but he does have a team he grew up watching.
"The school I really like is Michigan," Butler said. "They have a great offense and a great defense. You look at all the great players and teams they've had, and it's hard not to like them."
Coach Dick Olin at Lee is always known for motivating his players to be the best they can be. Butler is one of those team members that is doing exactly what his coach has told him.
"He tells us all the time to just work hard because everything we do here will help us at the next level," he said. "We've been doing that and things have been working out so far."
