Butler impressed by ASU victory

Treyjohn Butler was expected to make it to the Notre Dame-Arizona State game last weekend with a bunch of teammates but the 2016 four-star cornerback did not go to Tempe.
For personal reasons, Butler stayed home but the Etiwanda, Calif., recruit still watched the game on television and said he was thoroughly impressed by how the Sun Devils dominated.

"I didn't make it out there," Butler said. "I was planning to go out there with a couple of my teammates.
"I got to watch the game and it was crazy. I was a little bit surprised. I just thought Notre Dame was going to make it more of a fight. They came back in the third quarter but to start off like that I have a lot of respect for ASU."
It could be big for Butler's recruitment as well. Arizona State, Cal, Northwestern, Washington and Washington State have offered so far and he said the victory over Notre Dame is something he will remember as the recruiting process goes forward.
"That's a very big win, a very, very big win," Butler said. "Notre Dame is one of the top schools on the college level and for ASU to walk over them like that says something. It's very big."
Butler, rated as the No. 10 cornerback and the No. 135 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, said the Sun Devils are coming after him strongly and that he's also starting to hear from a few other programs. He's taken a step back from the recruiting process but it will become his focus soon enough.
"They've been really consistent," Butler said of Arizona State.
"They've been doing a lot. Along with them talking and then Wisconsin, Tennessee and all the other schools, I've been getting a lot of interest from Texas A&M and some other schools."
