Butler breaks down his final two

Three-star defensive back Tony Butler is still in the midst of a playoff run with his Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward team, but this weekend released his final two of Arizona State and West Virginia.

"I kind of decided Thursday," Butler said. "I thought I should narrow it down a little more and be more open and honest about the situation, (reveal) my top two schools that I have been really, really interested in and feel I can excel in. Those two schools really stood out throughout my whole recruitment.
Official visits will be taken to both schools before Butler renders his final decision. The only official visit Butler has taken was to Rutgers in September. His second official visit will go to Arizona State the weekend of Dec. 11.
"I have a great relationship with Coach (Chris) Ball and Coach (Ray) Brown," Butler said. "Those guys have definitely been keeping tabs on me since February, when they first offered me, and our relationship has grown tremendously from February until now. I am just going in open-minded with that official and can't wait to get there and experience something new."
The Dec. 11 visit will be Butler's first to Arizona State. He has been able to make an unofficial visit to West Virginia shortly before his senior season began, and plans to schedule an official visit to Morgantown, likely for January.
"I definitely grew up a West Virginia fan back when Steve Slaton and Pat White were there," Butler said. "That interest has always been there, but it was difficult at first because they didn't offer me until August when I visited. When they offered me, it was definitely a blessing."
The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Butler has led his St. Edward team to a 10-1 record this season and a second round playoff berth.
