Busy week ahead for Mattes

It's a busy week ahead for four-star offensive tackle R.J. Mattes. The Concord (N.C.) Robinson lineman has a game on Friday followed by two college visits on Saturday and Monday.
"I am actually going this Saturday to NC State for the Central Florida game," he said. "Then on Monday, I'm going to Clemson for the Florida State game. Both of those are unofficial visits.

"Basically, I just want to see the game day atmosphere to find out which school has the best one. I really want to go somewhere the fans love football. As for the coaches, it'll be cool to catch up with them, but I'm going for the game."
Mattes reiterated his top five.
"My narrowed list is Virginia, NC State, North Carolina, Clemson and South Carolina," he said. "I've got one official planned to Virginia on September 29th. I plan to take four more officials later in the year."
What does the No. 9 prospect in the Tar Heel State like about his finalists?
"I went to camp at all of those schools and enjoyed the visits," he said. "I also like the locations. Being able to be close to home with friends and family who can come and see me and if I need to I can get home too."
At this time, Mattes confirmed there are no leaders.
"They're all even right now. I'll base my decision off the official visits."
In regards to football, Mattes and Robinson are two weeks into the season.
"Our record is 1-1," he said. "The first game we lost by a touchdown and then last week we beat Hickory Ridge 23-7. Overall I think we've got a good offensive and defensive line.
"We're just a small 4A team with only 30 players on it. We've got a lot of solid athletes, but just get worn out since six players have to go both ways. I've been playing well on both sides of the field too. My confidence continues to boost and I'm having fun getting on the field."
Mattes and Robinson plays their county rival Concord this Friday.
